Security of Port Facilities
On March 3, 2005, the port of NAVIPE Platygiali of Astakos, applying the security conditions for ship and port facilities based on the SOLAS XI -2 ISPS Code (Security of International Ship and Port Facilities), was certified by the Ministry of Merchant Shipping with an announcement to the international Maritime Organization (IMO) with registration No. 3732.3/69/2005
This perfect implementation of the legislation limits any kind of terrorist incident that could affect the port and the vessels and ensures the confidence of its users. In particular, the following are mentioned:
- There is the Control Tower with a clear field of vision both on land and in the port area, which houses all electronic security devices and is the coordination center for all security protocols and port traffic control.
- The area is fully fenced, illuminated, monitored and patrolled on a 24-hour basis
- The central gate is controlled with a monitoring system and electronic security devices.
- All staff and visitors are registered and have identification cards.
- All vehicles are inspected and registered.
- The quayside and harbor area is constantly monitored by patrol boats.
